How do you make your burgers?
My favorite way is to take 2 lbs of lean ground beef and mix it with a package of Onion soup mix and a few tablespoons of worchestershire sauce. It gives burgers such a great flavor.
Do you have any great BURGER recipes or ideas????
That is how my husband's family makes burgers. My favorite burger is Oprah's favorite turkey burger. If you google that it will take you to her site...it is from Donald Trump's resort in Miami. It is fabulous!! It does take a little time but it is so worth it!
ReplyDeleteMy husband uses angus patties & marinates them in Dale's Seasoning. (You buy it in a bottle at the grocery store...near the BBQ sauces). They are my favorite burgers! Dale's is also good on steaks & chicken.
ReplyDeleteI mix half a jar of salsa (of your choice of hot, medium, mild) with 2.5 lbs of ground meat make on the grill. Makes the burgers super moist, very tasty! Sometimes these make better burgers when you mix it and make patties to freeze.

ReplyDeleteI sometimes add freshly pressed garlic, olive oil, black pepper, a little Lawry's, and dried basil leaves. The result is amazing!
ReplyDeleteWe use all the normal seasonings and then when forming the burgers, add shredded cheese and bacon bits to the inside and fold the meat around it. It makes for melted cheese inside the burger and is so good!
ReplyDeleteThat's how we make our burgers, although since I bought the cook yourself thin cookbook I've been following several recipes from there. They're version is a turkey burger (still yummy)and a side of Sweet potato fries (hooked on those).

ReplyDeletewe usually make stuffed turkey mini burgers. we season the meat w/worstershire, grill seasoning, and Ranch seasoning. Then we seal cheese and bacon bits in the middle :o) YUM!

ReplyDeleteWe mix about 2 T of crushed ice into our burger meat. When you grill them, it makes them super juicy!

ReplyDeleteSeriously... just a tablespoon per pound of meat. Mix as usual (you could also add other regular seasonings if you wish)
The burgers are SO juicy and have just a hint of sweet/salty flavor. No one would know what was in them if you didn't tell!

We love homemade burgers. Our recipe includes: lean ground beef, ground pork, grated onion, worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, salt, pepper, and one egg for binding.

ReplyDeleteCook an onion in olive oil for about 10 minutes until lightly browned, stir in 1/4 cup mayo, and 3 Tablespoons of A-1 steaksauce, delicious!

My very favorite is to add a package of Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning mix to the meat and make up the patties and cook as usual. Yum!!

ReplyDelete2 lbs ground turkey, 1 pkg. dry hidden valley ranch mix, 1 pkg. crumbled feta cheese, 1 bunch of cilantro. Mix all together and grill. YUM!!!
we switch it up-sometimes we use:

coke (makes meat very tender)
ranch packet
dale's seasoning
we pick a combo of things until my hubby says it smells right!
My mom adds Dale's Sauce, mushrooms, peppers, onion, carrots (any veggie that she can hide) and mixes all the hamburger meat plus toppings together in a large bowl and then forms the patties and grills them. It is a good way to add flavor and hide veggies for kids. Most kids will not even realize what is in the burger and eat it up!
ReplyDeleteAfter I patty mine up, I poke some butter down into it and then recover the holes. Mmm! For seasoning, I *love* that Lawry's Black Pepper season salt. That's all. Yes...we do it simple round here! (And that black season salt is great on steaks, too!)

ReplyDeleteIf I am using ground beef I like to add italian dressing, garlic, worcestershire, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
For turkey burgers I like the recipe mentioned above, the mar a lago turkey burgers. But, I add preserves instead of whatever it is they mention in the recipe.

We have also started to put portabella mushrooms and asparagus in aluminum foil with olive oil and seasonings or italian dressing and grill them. It's a quick and delicious way to cook veggies.

Hi Kelly! My fav are Ranch Burgers...1 lb of ground beef (usually 90/10) and mix with 1 packet of Ranch powder salad dressing (or 3tlbs if you have the canister), mix, patty and grill. Yum Yum!

ReplyDeleteWe use our 3 favorite seasonings: Lawry's seasoned salt, garlic salt, and course ground black pepper. My husband sprinkles that in the meat, makes into patties, and then on both sides. We use those seasonings for steaks and pork chops too.... so simple but so delicious!
ReplyDeleteMy fav burger: sprinkle lawrys seasoning salt, onion powder, garlic powder, worchester sauce and dales. Mix it all up really good. Form your patties. Squeeze lime juice all over the patties and let them sit for 20 plus minutes. DELISH!!! The lime is the best thing ever!!

ReplyDeleteMy husband and I LOVE Cheeseburger In Paradise's mini-cheeseburgers. We were excited when walmart had the mini burger patties, but we wanted something to season them with. In the spice aisle we found "Weber Grill Creations Gourtmet Burger Seasoning". It was really good on them. My husband just sprinkled it on while grilling. I'm sure we'll use it on all of our burgers from now on!
ReplyDeleteI'm allergic to wheat, so I make mine without the bun and I stuff it with grated vegetables and then drizzle a little bit of olive oil on it to give it a little bit of extra flavor.
ReplyDeleteHere's the recipe for Tom Perini's ranch burger, owner of Perini Ranch in Buffalo Gap, Texas. He recently won best burger on the today show. His restaraunt is delicious!
ReplyDelete8 ounce Certified Angus Ground Chuck, approximately 80% lean
1/2 teaspoon Perini Ranch Steak Rub
4 ounce sourdough hamburger bun
1 slice Cheddar cheese (yellow)
1 slice medium purple onion (approximately 1/4" thick) (Slice them into rings, pop out the center, leaving you with 4-5 rings)
2 medium white mushrooms, sliced
1 ounce chopped green chilies (canned)
1 ounce butter
1 ounce mayonnaise
1 ounce French mustard
DIRECTIONS:
Mix 1/2 teaspoon of Perini Ranch Steak Rub into the ground beef. Shape the beef into a ball and then hand pat to approximately the size of the bun.
In a sauté pan with a little melted butter, over medium heat, sauté purple onion until just tender. Remove onion from pan.
In the same butter, sauté mushroom slices, again, just until tender and good color. Remove from pan.
In the same butter, sauté chopped green chilies until warm. Remove from sauté pan.
Grill hamburger patty (will work in a skillet, gas grill or charcoal grill) until internal temperature of 160 degrees or until the juices run clear. Add cheese slice to melt. Remove from grill.
Split bun and brush each half with butter. Grill (on the same surface as you use for the hamburger patty), cut side down until toasted.
To assemble, spread toasted bun with mayonnaise and mustard. Place hamburger patty on bun and top with the mushrooms. Then layer the purple onion slice, then the green chilies.

My family loves ranch burgers....I put a packet of the powder hidden valley ranch into the meat with some garlic powder, salt and pepper. Very yummy!!

ReplyDeleteOmgoodness...all of these tips sound wounderful! We usually just use simple salt & pepper. Sometimes we get fancy, but so far, I prefer the simple way. I've heard others say too, that they use the Hidden Valley Ranch packet...although I've never tried it. Hmmm maybe I will.

Mix and that's it. It also taste fabulous with ground turkey too! I'm from SE Texas and on the border of Louisiana so we eat boudain a lot.
I take 1-2(I have to feed 4 hungry boys.lol) lbs of ground beef...add a little rolled oats...one egg...a little ketchup...a few bacon bits...and occassionally bbq sauce. You dont need much of any of the above ingredients or your burgers wont hold together all that well..but it is great. Another thing...saw it years ago on Martha Stewart-eek- I know. But you push a hole into the middle of the burger and put a little slice of cheese in the middle before you cook them. Thats great too :)

One of my husbands favorite ways to make hamburgers is to mix feta cheese in with the ground meat and then make your patties. You season the meat however you would like, mix in feta cheese and then form your patty. We like to use gouda, munster or some type of speciality cheese with these hamburgers. If you don't like feta, you won't even know it is in there. It melts and makes the burgers so moist and creamy!! Defiantly 2 thumbs up!

ReplyDeleteI'm a bit late on this one but here's a burger recipe our family LOVES ... they call the "Polly Burgers" after an aunt who created them.
ReplyDelete2 lbs ground meat plus 1 cup diced onion, a couple of splashes of Worchestershire sauce and a handful or so of shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well, form into patties and grill. MMMMMM-MM!
I love bbq burgers that have cornflakes crushed in them and baked or anything on the grill!

ReplyDeleteWe use the same basic concept as yours, except we use a Tablespoon (or so) of McCormick's Montreal Steak seasoning in place of the Onion Soup mix. Same amount of meat and Worcestershire sauce...grill 'em up. So, good!

ReplyDeleteWe recently discovered mixing crumbled blue cheese into the hamburger meat before patting it out. It's all mixed together and it adds a wonderful flavor. I season with a little bit of salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

When I make burgers I add ketchup, ranch, salt, pepper and garlic powder to the meat. If I'm making them in the oven then that's it. If they will be on the grill I like to make sure they aren't too terribly moist so I crush up vegetable ritz and mix that in. They are such a humongous hit at our house and so moist and flavorful that they really require no condiments! Mmmmmmm. Now I'm thinking I know what is for dinner tonight!!

ReplyDeleteI do the onion soup mix as well but not always (just depends on my mood). I add a little bit of mustard, ketchup, and bar-b-que sauce(more bar-b-que then the mustard and ketchup)with the onion soup mix and just let me tell you...YUMMY. Sometimes I even add a little Dales. Just don't add too much liquid bc it can give the burgers a weird yucky texture! MMMMm...making me hungry!
