Taco Soup and Garlic cheese biscuits
Last night I made Taco Soup for dinner. Scott's not a big soup fan so I rarely make soup but we both REALLY liked it. I'll be making this a LOT this winter! It's easy and very filling! And YUM!
Ingredients:
2 lbs ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 14.5 oz can whole kernel corn
2 16 oz cans of ranch style beans (I only used one can because I'm not a bean lover & it was fine)
* Maybe not everywhere but I know here - you find cans at the grocery store of ranch style beans. If you don't have those - substitute pinto or black or whatever you like.
3 cans of diced tomatos (maybe substitute 1 can rotel if you like spicy) (I got the garlic/onion kind and I think it gave it great flavor)
1 pkg taco seasoning
1 pkg Hidden Valley dressing mix
Brown and drain meat. Saute onions for a few minutes. Combine all ingredients in a large pot. Add chili powder, salt and pepper to taste. Simmer 1-2 hours. I topped it with shredded cheese!
Garlic Cheese Biscuits
2 1/4 cups bisquick
2/3 cup milk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp garlic salt
Combine ingredients and make drop biscuits by just dropping spoonfuls on a sprayed pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Such a great side!

Can you elaborate on ranch style beans? I've never heard of them or at least I don't think I have. Thanks! It sounds fabulous and I'm bookmarking this page!
I make my taco soup a little different. I put one can of diced tomatoes and one can of rotel. 1 can of black beans and 1 can of pinto beans. I also use mexican corn and Hidden Valley Ranch dip.
There are so many different tweaks to this recipe. But it is absolutely one of our winter/fall favorites!
We love Taco Soup here too! It's a great one for the crock pot too which is nice. I'll have to try it with garlic cheese biscuits, we usually add sour cream and serve with tortilla chips!
I have a wonderful soup recipe that is SO easy to make absolutely ANYONE can make it...not to mention, it is delicious!!! It's chicken tortilla soup, perfect for the winter.
1 can chicken (I typically cut the chicken into smaller pieces, it comes in chunks)
1 family sized can chicken and rice soup
1 can ranch style beans
1 can rotel
1 can creamed corn
Pour everything together into a crockpot and cook for an hour or two...serve on top of crushed tortilla chips and top with cheese.
It's amazing, I promise it will change your life! :)
I was wondering about the Ranch Style Beans as well, never heard of them up here in New England.
That sounds delicious! I have a hubby who hates the word casserole too - I now use "bake" as a substitute. ;-)
This sounds very similiar to my Taco Soup except I use black beans and garbanzo beans. Not sure what ranch beans are! :) We also do more mix ins at the end such as black olives, sour cream and fritos! Yummy!
i make those biscuits only I use ginger ale in place of the milk...makes them so much tastier!
We make taco soup all the time! We serve it with white corn tortilla chips and use it more as a "dip". We just scoop up the soup with the chips. No spoons needed. Works great for football parties too! Ours goes like this:
1 pound ground beef
1 onion
taco seasoning mix
2 cans mexican style stewed tomatoes
1 can corn
1 can pinto beans
Brown beef and onion. Dump in the rest. I usually cut up the stewed tomatoes as they cook.
Top with cheese and sour cream and scoop with white corn tortilla chips!
I LOVE Taco Soup. My recipe has more diced tomatoes and rotel plus I put frito corn chips on the bottom of bowl before I put the soup in the bowl. Then I top with cheese and sour cream. Yum!
Ranch style beans? Never heard of it. Must be a southern thing...us "Pacific Northwesters" don't have all the good food that you do down there. We just got a Sonic about an hour and half away from us and we were so excited! LOL! I'm gonna try the biscuits tonight for dinner. Sounds yummy.

I've never heard of ranch style beans either. But I am so looking forward to trying this recipe, sounds yummy and easy:) Thanks for sharing!
My family (especially my hubby) LOVES Taco Soup (we call it taco chili). I am going to have to look for the ranch style beans! We've never used them before.
I have that same recipe... we call it taco junk. :)
Kelly, I love taco soup! It's almost time to make it here in California too. I usually just get whatever beans are on sale about 3 cans. But, you should definitely try a can of hominy in it. I had never had it before, and it took some getting used to because of that, but now I love the taste of it! Thanks for the inspiration, Meghan
My taco soup recipe is very similar I use a can of Pinto beans and a can of chili beans, and diced tomatoes and rotel as well as corn, the env of ranch and the env of taco seasoning. It actually came from a Weight Watchers recipe using the leanest meat, and it was only 2 points per cup.. And it is even better the next day!
Ooohh! This sounds really good! I will be trying it very soon!
I love taco soup! My recipe doesn't have onion in it--just 1 lb ground meat, can of ranch style beans, can of Rotel, can of shoe peg corn( drained), can of black beans, taco seasoning and ranch dressing packet. Also 3 cans of water using the rotel can. We serve it over tortilla rounds and top it with cheese!
Kelly we have Ranch style beans here in California and they are yummy! This sounds great I think I will have to try it out... thanks!
this is our exact same recipe and now you have me drooling over your picture of it and wanting to make it for dinner tonight! mmmm:)
I think I've made that before and it's delicious! It freezes really well too! I'd love if you would take a look at my recipe blog and follow me if you'd like!

I made this the other night, and we liked it, too. My husband is the world's pickiest eater and he doesn't like "casseroles or soups" either. I called it Taco Chili. He liked it, but he still picked out any larger tomato chunks.
I made this other night and it was fantastic! :-) Thank you so much Kelly for the different recipes! It's nice to be able to try something new. The only thing different I did was add sour cream on top since we use it on Tacos!
I made this tonight and loved it!!!
As a single girl who is always on the go, I also love that it made a lot of leftovers! Always looking for meals that freeze well. thanks Kelly!
Livin' here in the Big D, can't believe the rest of the world isn't subjected to the isles and isles of Ranch Style Beans. They are everywhere in the grocery stores!!! Well, at least they do take up a lot of the Can Section....
I think I could do this?
wow. totally have to try this. thrilled I stumbled upon your blog. I'm following, I hope you will as well. I started my blog a little over 3 months ago after graduating from college in the south and moving across the country to LA. The site's all about celebrity fashion from the point of view of an LA stylist. I'd love if if you'd stop by to see multiple post a day on all the latest celebrity fashion news. Any support would be awesome. Thanks love. xoxo

For you non Southerners!
Ranch style beans are one of several Conagra products...usually refering to original ranch style beans or with jalapenos! Just "google" it!
Ro-Tel is just plain great canned tomatoes with jalapenos!
Southern does not always translate well!
If you do not understand sweet tea you are lost!
nice your blog
