Paula Deen's Chocolate Pecan Pie

CHOCOLATE PECAN PIE

Ingredients
  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup dark corn syrup
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Cover bottom of pie crust with pecans.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and melted butter. Add the corn syrup, sugar, and the chopped chocolate. Stir until all ingredients are combined. Pour mixture into the pie shell over the pecans and place on a heavy-duty cookie sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes. Lower the oven temperature to 350 degrees F and continue to bake for an additional 25 minutes or until pie is set. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.

Paula Deen NEVER fails. Every recipe I've ever made of hers is fabulous and incredibly authentic - I haven't tried this one though - I think I'll make it next weekend for my husband. He will love it! Thanks!

I tried three of your recipes this weekend for my son's birthday party. They were a hit! We had the bunco buns, spinich dip and carmalized onion dip. Thanks so much for posting recipes here. I love to try new things but I want "real" people to try them first.

I have been following Harper's story & want you to know that we have prayed over her many times. So glad that the Lord has healed her. His faithfulness is amazing! Your recipe blog is my kind of thing...good 'ol southern type cooking.

Hey, I see that Harper is letting you do a little baking! This pie looks divine!

I followed your inspirational story and prayed for your sweet baby. So glad that she is doing well (and is as cute as ever.)

Paula's recipe calls for bourbon...not that I have ever bought the stuff or where would know where to look, but does it still tastes good without it?

Also, on Paula's site - there were complaints of it not cooking long enough - anyone else have that problem?

Thanks.
