Grilled Pork Tenderloin

Grilled Pork Tenderloin
(by Paula Deen)

This is one of our favorite meals. It's easy and SO good!!!!!

Marinade:
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 oranges, juices
1 lime, juiced
1/2 cup tamarind concentrate (I have NO idea what this is and I have never been able to find any - so I just skip it)
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 tablespoon chopped scallions

1 pork tenderloin (about 12 ounces)
Olive oil, for brushing

Combine marinade ingredients in measuring cup and stir to combine. Place the pork tenderloin in a plastic, sealable bag. Pour marinade over the tenderloin and seal bag. Marinate overnight in the refrigerator.

Preheat an outdoor grill or preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Remove pork tenderloin from marinade and pat dry. Brush olive oil onto grill and over meat for extra flavor. Reserve marinade. Grill tenderloin until cooked through, about 30 minutes to 40 minutes over medium heat. Or roast in oven for 35 to 45 minutes. Allow meat to rest about 10 minutes before cutting into 2-inch serving pieces.

While meat is grilling, bring reserved marinade to a boil in a small saucepan, then lower the heat and gently simmer until it is reduced to about 2 tablespoons. Stir occasionally. Drizzle a small amount of marinade over each piece of meat.

The meat always stays so tender! This is my favorite recipe to use for pork tenderloin.

  1. I have to admit, I'm not a big pork tenderloin fan. BUT, I do like it grilled. In fact, Justin just cooked on on the grill last week. I'll have to pass on the recipe to Justin.

  3. YUM, I only know how to do a bacon-wrapped maple pork loin...and I'm getting tired of that, so I'm definitely trying this!

  4. Do you typically grill it or cook it in the oven? Just wondering if it's as good in the oven - seems like the grill would give it a different flavor. It sounds delicious.

  5. I made this a few weeks ago and am just getting back to say that we LOVED IT! Loved it so much we are having company on Thursday night and I will be serving this. We don't have a grill so I just cooked it in the oven which was really great! The marinade...oh my goodness...if that raw meat hadn't been sitting in it I might have taken a sip :)

  7. Looks yummy! I got to your blog from Christy Jobe's. I am intrigued by all of the recipes! If you don't own one yet or need a great gift, you should check out Add Another Place Setting which is the Junior League of Northwest Arkansas' cookbook. It's wonderful! You can check it out at www.juniorleaguenwa.org.

  8. You could probably find tamarind concentrate at a hispanic grocery store. Tarmarind (or tamarindo in spanish) is a fruit that is a little longer than a finger, kind of narrow, and is brown with a shell on it. It is usually made into juice or soda or a concentrate for recipes. The juice and soda is actually very good. It almost tastes like iced tea. Just thought you might find that interesting.

  10. I'm definitely going to have to try this! I googled Tamarind and found this substitute:

If you can't find tamarind, you can substitute lemon or lime juice mixed with a touch of brown sugar.
